For the more discerning customer. Nice people. Great atmosphere lovely outside on summer evenings.
I was in The Railway Bell today with my family after the christmas parade and was disgusted to see the staff would not serve another family with young children as the father had a small tattoo on his neck. Looked to me like a nice family on a day out for the parade. Staff not so nice !
First off i would like to thank Amanda for her post, and my Wife and Leanne on the other website rating this pub, I had a lovely evening with my family at the Christmas Festival, then thought it would be nice to have a nice beverage in the local pub, to be turned down for having a tattoo on my neck, for one i never thought this pub was The Ritz or any other posh outlet, to be discriminated like that in front of the locals or customers , i was in shock and though it was a joke, till i said to the charming landlady isn't that discrimination, for her reply to be no ,the tattoo on my neck is my sons name that passed away with R.I.P. below the name, so sorry to here that is below the standards of this establishment, i will carry my sons name in pride ,and should not offend anyone, i will not let this rest here as i am going to look into this more, to save others feeling the upset as i had yesterday, if i am to recommend anyone that reads this to try The Worlds End, up the road, where you will receive a warm welcome from the bar staff, and the beverages are a lot cheaper nice beer garden where children are welcome.
Really nice place. Been going there ever since I moved into Hampton. The good bits are that its friendly, and not full of rugby thugs. The bad bit is that it was very overpriced. 3.80 for a pint of fosters!. It has recently been renovated into a "modern" pub, and the price reflects that. For price, your better off taking the 5 minute walk to the Dukes Head.
