Large room with view on the castle, these have been recently decorated with good taste. The service is nearly perfect - always prompt to help. The restaurant should have a more diversified menu, it is the only critic that I find. In sum, a perfect place to stay in Edinbourgh.

Easily my favourite hotel in Edinburgh - the recently refurbished Sheraton Grand is one to try. They've re-thought their whole menu, bringing fine-dining elements without the massive cost. The mint chocolate bomb is incredible. A chocolate sphere sits on the plate looking like a smoother chocolate orange, until you pour the warm chocolate sauce on top, whereby it melts to reveal a pretty green centre, which crackles with surprise popping candy on your first bite. The rooms are stunning, the beds massive. I had to roll over in bed 3 times just to get to my husband's side. The bedrooms are high-tec wired for sound, so that you can hook up your phone to play music on any or all of the speakers in the room, including in the bathroom. The club lounge is great. You have to pay to upgrade to a club room, but once in the lounge, there is a huge selection of canapes and drinks to satisfy you before dinner. The thermal spa is spectacular and includes a rooftop pool with views of the castle. Staff are very friendly and accommodating, going out of their way to make you feel special.
